Introduction

Culture, Value

America has been the land of opportunity for generations of immigrants. Some came looking for freedom to practice their faith, many sought to build a life away from crisis, and then there were folks looking for intellectual gratification in their specialization. Many Indian American immigrants in the US today belong to the third category. They came here in search of challenging engagements and academic pursuits that would match their hunger for learning and offer them the sense of accomplishment they were either deprived of or could not foresee in India.
India is known for its diversity; one community stands out for its quest for knowledge and excellence. That community is called Maithils. With a history dating back to the Vedic period, the Mithila region encompasses the northern part of Bihar and southern Nepal. It has produced numerous teachers, academics, business leaders, and technologists who can be found worldwide and indeed in all the important cities of North America today.
Texas has been attracting talent from all over the country and worldwide for the past decade. With no personal income taxes, robust modern infrastructure, and a diverse workforce, the state has steadily climbed up to be the number one choice for talented individuals.
The Dallas metroplex epitomizes all that is great about Texas. It was only natural that Maithils would find their way to this city. A year before COVID-19, around ten community members met at a clubhouse and floated the idea of building the DFWMaithil Family. Today, it is a thriving community of over 50 families that is growing fast.
This DFWMaithil Family intends to advance the Maithil culture of art, learning and enlightenment in the Dallas Metroplex.

Maithil Community 5K Run Event

Mar 30 , 2025

The DFW Maithil community came together for an inspiring 5K Run event aimed at promoting health and unity. A total of 19 families, including enthusiastic kids, participated in this vibrant gathering. While adults embraced the challenge of the 5K run, the kids enjoyed a fun-filled 1K walk/run, receiving certificates to celebrate their achievements and encourage healthy habits.

The event was a perfect blend of fitness and entertainment, with plenty of joyful moments captured in photos and videos. It was not just about running—it was about creating memories, fostering connections, and prioritizing community well-being.

Special thanks to the organizers—Munishji & Maltiji and Sumitji & Rashmiji—whose efforts ensured the event’s seamless success. Their dedication brought families together for a day of fun, fitness, and fellowship. Here's to many more such events that strengthen our community spirit!
